It’s the time of the year again… its Friday the 13th… time to announce Multi-Mania 09, Europe’s biggest FREE Multimedia FEST

Multi-Mania 09 - Europe's Biggest FREE multimedia FEST
Multi-Mania is a two day free conference in KORTRIJK XPO, BELGIUM offering workshops and 4 tracks full of national and international speakers … I think that is kind of unique in Europe …especially because the conference doesn’t cost anything for the attendees.We want alle the multimedia folks to learn something, be inspired and get connected !
I am really proud to announce that even in an economical crisis we are able to give the multimedia community in Europe a FREE event full of interesting sessions and workshops !
The first day of the event (May 18th) will be one day full of workshops where you will be able to learn a lot from the experts. The second day (May 19th) will be the full conference like you know it from the last 9 years 
That means that we are expecting more then 30 spreakers from around the world who have something cool and interesting to tell about DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT, MOBILE, VIDEO/AUDIO and 3D DESIGN/DEVELOPMENT.
Of course we will also have the one and only awardshow in the evening where the best multimedia student projects will win cool prices and afterwards we can celebrate atthe 2M09 PARTY !! If you as a company want to meet the upcoming talents, the awardshow is “tha place to be” !
Last year we had more then 1000 peoples attending the event and this year we even have space for even more folks. Registration for the event is FREE and will open at April 20, so mark that date in your agenda!

I really like conferences, but one thing I always think is : where are the woman ? That is where the next FITC conference in TORONTO comes in… they are doing a great job by giving away 100 festival tickets to woman who would like to attend ! Finally a conference recognizes that women in our industry are underrepresented.
So, how do you get your ticket, lovely woman?

It is always cool to use features of Flash CS4 in a way where they were not designed/developed for . Well some time ago I made some sketches with the drawTriangles funtion. It is not fully random generated art, the painter can influence the way the artwork is made by using mouse and keyboard input. The generated splines are drawn and filled with bitmapData materials.

I am having crazy times here at the FITC conference in Amsterdam at the moment. Shawn and his team again are doing a great job! Congrats guys ! I just did with my talk “Play With Vectors in Flash CS4“. To give you an idea where this talk was about: here is the official sesson description:
“When people hear the word “vector” most of them immediately think of mathematical equations, to represent images in computer graphics. But it is not only that where this technical-creative session will focus on. In this session Koen also will explain in great depth how you can get the most out of the new Vector type in Flash CS4. From graphics vector data to 3D matrix transformations and lots more. Fasten your seatbelt for a round trip with “Mr. Vector” in an inspirational hour full of vector madness and fun! “
So it was indeed a technical session where I explained where you can use the Vector data type in Flash CS4. I focussed on two domains where the Vector data type is used: 3D matrix transformations and the Advanced Drawing Api.

For the people that were at the session, there was 1 demo that for some reason didn’t work correctly but there is a working version in the session files. This demo was showing the perspective correction on the bitmapfill on a plane made by two triangles. If you move the mouse horizontally or vertically you can experience the distortion of the vertices and the material in the according way. Here is a screenshot of the demo:

I also showed a little FXG parser I am working on, the source is included in the downloads but is more or less not documented 
. But I will explain more about the parser in a next post in the upcoming hours/days
