Adobe Director 2007 and Adobe Shockwave Player

I was a bit surprised yesterday when I was reading an article where Tom Higgins (ADOBE) stated very clear that Adobe Director is NOT DEAD. Since a really long time it seemed to me that Director was disappeared from the main focus by Adobe/Macromedia… BUT there is big news… the next major release of Director will be available in the first half of 2007 !!

There is also a FAQ launched about this topic on the Adobe site, where you can read very much about commercial toolbars … πŸ™‚ and very little about what we have to expect from the next major release 😦 but they will gather input from the Director user community as they explore opportunities for features to include in the next version !

That is disturbing news! I’ve though my bribery money to Adobe worked things out … but it seems not so! πŸ˜‰

Its very cool to know that director will still live… in fact theres a new hope to push 3D content if Adobe work on 3D shockwave player giving us chance to enter DirectX9, advanced 3D features running on the player…..

I was reading the other day that DIRECTOR 11 (or 2007/CS3) is coming out on l8t second half of 2007… so we have to wait and keep using MX2004

There is a new version of Director in development, Director 11. We are bringing in several engineers to present on Director 11 3 times at MAX 2007 in Chicago and we are adding a BOF for Director.

Even if it’s not untill the second half of 2008.

Looking forward to the nex release of Director.

But Higgings left the building.. adobe building that is. Isnt working there anymore. So is there any current news?

T.Higgins is now in UNITY development team. Though that app is currently available for mac, it also deploys games not just for mac but also in windows. So Adobe just keeps it in the shelf.

You were WRONG. It is NOT going to happen. Director will never get updated. screw Adobe. The VISTA issues with it are ridiculous. No Intel Mac support for Shockwave is also absurd. HIT RECOMPILE people, jeez.

Luckly we’ve started using Unity. Pretty nice and a WHOLE lot better than MX2004.

Hope I’m not the one you’re pertaining to. πŸ™‚

And yeah, UNITY is better for now. The percentage of Director’s renaissance is now 7%. The haze gets heavier. Always giving promises unlike on their promotions on Flash.

    Adobe killed Director.

  15. Alex_Blackout 18 January , 2009 at 2:36 pm

“Adobe killed Director” – NO! It’s not true!
Macromedia tried to kill Director, but …. as you see, there’s no Macromedia, but there’s Director πŸ˜‰
    Adobe saves Director!
The 12th version is to come…. maybe in 2009-2010 – That’s the FACT! People!

    Director strikes back!!!
